In order to consolidate communications that are pushed out to the Pack, we are discontinuing the regular use of our EBlast emails.

Going forward, all updates and event registrations will be pushed out via Remind notifications and/or posted to our Facebook private group.    

We will continue to update the event calendar on our website, for the time being.  

The Restoring Hearts Ministries of Trenton has begun collecting much needed winter clothing items for those struggling with homelessness in our area.  As a pack, we are organizing a drop off of these items to the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone, who will then deliver and distribute to Trenton.  We will be collecting during our upcoming November meeting on Nov 18. Please bring any items from the attached list, bagged, to our next pack meeting to support the cause!

In addition, we will continue our annual "Scouting for Food" food drive.  We will be collecting non-perishable items to help stock our local food pantry in Millstone.  Please bring any canned/boxed food items to our next pack meeting on Nov 18.

Due to the rain forecast for this weekend from the remains of hurricane Ian, we need to postpone our Cubtoberfest and Shooting Spooktacular camping event, originally scheduled for Oct 1-2.  More information will be provided at a future date.

Pack 116 Parents,

Welcome to our official kickoff of the 2022/23 Scouting Season. While our program operates year-
round, we take a brief hiatus during the Summer and only hold one event per month. Now that the
Scouts are back in school, our normal cadence of Pack and Den meetings will begin.

As a reminder, we have our Pack meetings once a month and den meetings once or twice a month. Our
Den meetings allow our Scouts to work on their skills and rank with Scouts of a similar age. In addition,
our Pack meetings are our opportunity to bring the whole Pack together to celebrate their
achievements.

I wanted to provide a quick list of upcoming events so that we can answer any questions you may have:

Our first Pack meeting will be held this Friday, 9/23, at the Millstone Primary School Cafeteria, starting at 7pm.

Our first camping trip this year will be held on October 1 st – 2 nd at Quail Hill Scout Reservation. This trip
will include access to our BB/Archery Ranges and is open for Scouts to just come out for the day or camp
with us overnight.

Scouts wishing to register with the Pack this year will begin the process in October. While our returning
Scouts will not need a new application, we will need updated medical forms, a check for dues @
$175.00, and a SEPARATE fundraising bond check for $125.

Another topic I wanted to discuss is parent volunteering. Our Pack program is supported entirely
through volunteers, with many of us having Scouts currently in the Pack. Our program’s ability to grow
and be as engaging as possible is directly correlated to the number of volunteers we have supporting
these efforts. Any parent wishing to contribute their time is asked to please approach their den leader,
Brian, or me at the next Pack Meeting.

All cub scouts are invited to join us, along with the Central New Jersey Area Rocketry Society (CENJARS), on Friday August 19 at 6pm, at the Millstone Community Center on Stagecoach Rd, to build a rocket.

Launch them and see how high they fly on Saturday August 20, 10am, at the Millstone Middle School fields.

Important Information:

• Registered cub scouts can build and launch a rocket. If siblings would like to build and launch their own rocket, please bring $5 per sibling on Friday night to purchase a rocket kit. Members of CENJARS will be at the community center to assist during the build. These are real rockets with engines!

• Friends, family, and guests are welcome to attend and watch the rockets fly on Saturday. The launch is a great opportunity for recruitment, so please spread the word to anyone interested in joining the pack!
